Nothing screams spring & summer like fresh citrus and flowers!! Thats why I am absolutely crazy about these super simple but GORGEOUS flower arrangements. Flowers make me so happy! And the best part about these arrangements, the possibilities are endless! You can choose any flower variety and any citrus you have layin’ around, and you’ve got yourself a beautiful masterpiece that looks like you spent hours creating!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Citrus of your choice
- A vase or jar
- A cup that will fit into the center of chosen vase/jar
- Flowers of your choice
- Cutting board
Start by washing and slicing your fruit. Then you’ll need to cut them about a 1/4 inch thick.
Once you’ve washed and sliced your fruit, prepare your vase by placing a clean glass of some sort right into the center. You’ll need the glass to be smaller than the vase but large enough to hold your flowers. This is the secret little trick for keeping your flowers hydrated and your citrus dry! Pretty nifty right?
Now you can start placing your citrus slices around the outside of your glass, in your vase. There is no rhyme or reason to this method, just make them look pretty!
Then go ahead and add some water to your glass, I like to make a special “solution” if you will, of warm water and lemon lime soda. It keeps my flowers fresher, longer. Trim your flowers to your liking, and you’re set!
Here are a few examples of arrangements I’ve created in the past..
My sweet neighbor has a beautiful tree that produce a variety of lemons that aren’t quite as bitter as your average lemon. They also have a tinge of pink to their flush, I love them!
Limes are beautiful also!
And my personal favorite, grapefruit! I just so happen to have some roses that match the grapefruit flesh perfectly..I love this one!
