An easy Valentine’s Day dinner the kiddos will love!

Over the years, Valentines Day in our house has become a family affair. My husband and I will certainly find a time to sneak away for a little date night but we have three little boys who have grown to love spending this special day with mom and dad. For several years we have done a heart shaped pizza and while that’s always a hit, we have been super into meatball subs lately! For the cost of ingredients and the convenience from start to finish, you really can’t go wrong.

Hearts, Hearts & more Hearts

For this particular dinner, I knew I wanted lots of heart shaped foods. I found some decent sized rolls at our local grocery store and used my 3 inch heart shaped cookie cutter to make each roll into the shape of a hear. Doing the same with the cheese.

Next cut your rolls in half, butter the insides and place a piece of heart shaped cheese on the bottom half (we enjoy provolone), inside. Toast the buns  to your liking.

All toasty, cheese is melted and they’re ready for the meatballs!

The next part is super quick & easy. Take your favorite marinara and frozen meatballs, and heat on the stove at medium heat, until they’re cooked through.

Don’t they look so yummy?

I also threw together a simple green salad  using my 1 inch heart shaped cookie cutter to make hearts out of the salami and cucumbers. The kids went crazy for this and ate every bite they were served!
